The Eilat Stone is named after Israel's southernmost city, where it was discovered centuries ago near the Red Sea in King Solomon's copper mines.

It is a green-blue, inhomogeneous mixture of several secondary copper minerals, including malachite, lapis lazuli (lasur stone) and turquoise.
